OUR NEIGHBORS

Clutterbug

About three years ago, Barbara McNeely set out to find a handmade gift for a special friend with health problems. “I looked a very long time for something that could improve her health and lifestyle,” Barbara says, “but came up empty handed.” She noticed, in fact, that the products that were available were imported, made with substandard materials, and showed little thought to design and usefulness for people with health concerns.

The idea was born: Why not open a small shop that would showcase useful, handmade, local products?
In September, 2000, Barbara did just that!

One smile says it all!

The beginnings were humble — a small suite located in Fort Gualala. Barbara smiles as she tells the story of the shop’s name. “My daughter laughed at the size (or lack) of the shop and said, ‘You should name the shop the cluttered closet.’ The next day a visitor to our town walked by the shop door and exclaimed in her lovely southern accent, ‘My, my — aren’t you the clutterbug!’” The name rang true and Barbara named her store, Clutterbug.

The shop expanded in 2001 to hold more “feel good” product lines. Potential products were carefully tested (on family and “closest friends”) and only the most impeccable were ordered for the shop’s inventory.

Now you have no reason
not to look and feel your best.

Clutterbug has continued growing. You can find them today in their brand-new space in Cypress Village. I love hanging out at Clutterbug. You will, too! You can check out local handmade candles, soaps and lotions. There are copper garden arbors, gazebos and trellises for your garden. Get rid of the day’s worries with one of their copper wind wonders or water fountains. And Clutterbug carries a complete line of personal care accessories that will help you forget the aches and pains of modern living!

The shop specializes in aromatherapy for home fragrances and carries an interesting collection of Jazz CDs to unwind with at the end of the day. Clutterbug is a great place for browsing, it smells good, and Barbara is a fun person to get to know.

Everything you need to make your living room a living room.

Through her store’s growth, Barbara has remained true to her original mission: support the “handmade arts” by purchasing items made in the USA. When you buy an item at Clutterbug, you are directly supporting and encouraging the “handmade arts”! Check it out!

...speaking of living rooms.

Just when you think you’ve seen
it all, there’s more!

Barbara’s neighbor hopes to open
on November 24.
