The Frog's Story

Our goal is, quite simply, to be a responsive, involved, interested, and interesting community bookstore as we explore new ways to grow. Because we’re able to get most books in a matter of days, our strategy is to keep a few copies of lots of titles so you will have good variety from which to select. And our selection is strongly guided by your purchases.

You can also order any title in print on our web page, and pick your book up at the store or have it shipped to your home.  We now offer eGoogle electronic books which may be downloaded immediately upon completion of purchase.

At Four-Eyed Frog Books you can count on finding the latest titles, getting to know authors and illustrators at our store events, sipping a complimentarycup of coffee or tea as you browse, and, most importantly, feeling welcome.

When I was a very small and extremely shy boy (it’s true!), I often fantasized about owning a little store – in a small town on the ocean. How fun that it became a bookstore. 

Over the years, as real life intruded, my dream retreated into the back reaches of my mind. Then, when my wife Linda and I moved to the Redwood Coast, we knew that we had to live here. And I knew I’d found my village. So, Four-Eyed Frog Books is quite literally a dream come true.

When I moved up here to become a partner in the bookstore, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I’d been in sales, owned both a design firm and an ad agency, but I’d never been in retail. I figured partnering with my brother in a bookstore would be the ideal retirement job. In fact, I’ve never worked so hard in my life. But then, I’ve never had so much fun, either.

As for the community, I chuckle when my friends in the Bay Area ask, “What on earth do you do up there?” I tell them the truth. There’s always something going on, and I love being here.
